The Diafarm CMT should also be used to check somatic cell counts after mastitis treatment.\u003cbr\u003eThe Diafarm CMT test should not be used when the cow is producing colostrum and should not be used before the third day after calving.\u003cbr\u003eThe Diafarm CMT test should not be used after the onset of the hardening period.\u003cbr\u003eDiafarm CMT test solution is an in vitro diagnostic test that does not give a conclusive answer but predicts the result with a high degree of probability - by reference to samples taken from a symptomatic animal. The test cannot be considered as a definitive diagnosis.\u003cbr\u003eThe Diafarm CMT test should be stored at room temperature and protected from sunlight. DO NOT FREEZE.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eINSTRUCTIONS FOR PERFORMING THE TEST:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eClean each bean separately.\u003cbr\u003eRinse the first milk stream.\u003cbr\u003eDraw a sample of milk from each quarter into a separate compartment of the test spatula.\u003cbr\u003ePour off excess milk to leave 2-3 ml of milk (approx. ½ teaspoon) for reaction with equal amounts of Diafarm CMT-test.\u003cbr\u003eAdd 2-3 ml of the Diafarm CMT test to each compartment.\u003cbr\u003eBy making circular movements with the test spatula, the contents will be mixed. At the same time observe whether there is a change in the viscosity of the mixture. Read the result within 10 seconds. After a short time the reaction may disappear. If in doubt, the test must be repeated.\u003cbr\u003eAfter each test the spatula must be rinsed thoroughly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eEVALUATING THE RESULT:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNegative result: The solution remains watery, blue-grey in colour and homogeneous. No thickening. Assessment: Probably no inflammation.\u003cbr\u003eWeak positive result: Slight thickening of the solution, reaction may disappear (after approx. 10 seconds) Assessment: mastitis suspected.\u003cbr\u003ePositive result: Thickening, the solution may become gelatinous. Assessment: mastitis.\u003cbr\u003eStrongly positive result: Solution hardens, gels and becomes very viscous.
