Grain-Free Dietary Food for Dogs with Liver Failure, Chronic Hepatitis, and Liver Fibrosis
Fit-aroma MONGE VETSOLUTION CANINE HEPATIC contains milk thistle, which has multiple beneficial effects on liver function. Silybin, one of the active compounds in milk thistle, has anti-inflammatory properties due to its impact on DNA/RNA-mediated effects in the cell nucleus. The primary effect on liver fibrosis involves converting hepatic stellate cells into myofibroblasts, limited by silybin through the interruption of cellular contact. Silybin reduces DNA synthesis, proliferation, and migration of stellate cells, thus restricting fibrous tissue formation. It also limits changes in biochemical and coagulation parameters, reducing the extent of hemorrhagic necrosis in the liver and preventing the entry of other toxins into hepatocytes due to membrane polypeptides binding bile salts.

The hepatoprotective properties of silybin support the synthesis of proteins essential for liver regeneration. Silybin promotes enterohepatic recirculation, with bile concentrations almost 100 times higher than in serum. Pharmacokinetic studies in dogs showed improved bioavailability of silybin in combination with phosphatidylcholine, an active fit-aroma component in MONGE VETSOLUTION CANINE HEPATIC.

Indications: Liver damage, chronic hepatitis, liver fibrosis, copper metabolism disorders, portosystemic shunt, hepatic encephalopathy, piroplasmosis, jaundice.
Contraindications: Pregnancy, lactation, growth, pancreatitis, hyperlipidemia.

PROTEINS: The protein content in MONGE VETSOLUTION CANINE HEPATIC is low (protein/kcal 43) and primarily plant-based to limit urea formation, thereby reducing the burden on weakened liver metabolism.
CARBOHYDRATES: The carbohydrates are easily digestible, supporting the liver's weakened metabolism.
MINERALS: The formula has a very low copper content (4 mg/kg). Copper deficiency in dogs is not a clinical problem, but increased copper levels are found in dogs with normal liver histology, hepatitis, and late-stage cirrhosis. Evidence suggests that copper accumulation leads to liver disease over time.

ENERGY: Carbohydrates 38%, Proteins 23%, Fats 39%.
