SPECIFIC™ Adult Cat FCD Crystal Management

SPECIFIC™ FCD is a dry food to help prevent the recurrence of struvite and calcium oxalate stones. This diet has a moderate sodium content making it suitable for long term use. For cats with a tendency to gain weight we have a light version SPECIFIC™ FCD-L.

COMPOSITION CHARACTERISTICS AND RATIONALE
Low RSS urine index (Relative Super Saturation) – to reduce the degree of urine saturation with struvites and calcium oxalates and create a low saturation solution that reduces the risk of new struvites and calcium oxalates crystallization in the urine.

• The feed has a reduced magnesium and phosphorus content (struvite components) to prevent repeated formation of struvite crystals and stones.
• A urine pH below 6.4 dissolves existing struvite crystals and reduces the risk of their recurrence.
• High-quality and easily assimilable components ensure optimal use of nutrients, while simultaneously reducing the amount of feces.
• EPA and DHA are omega-3 fatty acids that have a beneficial effect on the health of joints, skin and hair.

• SPECIFIC™ FCD Crystal Prevention is recommended to be divided into 3 or 4 meals per day to reduce the potential postprandial rise in urine pH.
•  Struvite urolithiasis is just one of several types of urolithiasis that can occur in cats. It is extremely important to determine the type of stones in the urinary bladder, as each type may require a different nutritional strategy (see the urolithiasis control chart in the chapter "SPECIFIC™ feed technical information").
• Thanks to its composition and high energy value, SPECIFIC™ FCD Crystal Prevention food is also suitable for healthy adult cats with slightly higher energy needs. Easily assimilable and balanced components supply the organism of an adult cat with all the nutrients necessary for a healthy life.
• SPECIFIC™ FKD/FKW Kidney Support is recommended for the prevention of recurrent urolithiasis caused by calcium oxalate, ammonium urate or cystine deposits.
• For overweight cats prone to struvite urolithiasis, SPECIFIC™ FCD-L Crystal Prevention, SPECIFIC TM FXD Adult or SPECIFIC™ FRD Weight Reduction are recommended.
• Cats with recurrent idiopathic cystitis are better fed canned food (SPECIFIC™ FCW Crystal Prevention or SPECIFIC™ FXW Adult).
