Psyllium husks are a mixture of neutral and acidic polysaccharides with a soluble/insoluble fiber ratio of 70/30. As a bulking agent, Psyllium husks absorb water and form a gel-like mass in the intestines. This reduces enzyme activity on starch and slows digestion.
